Rear diff rebuild parts list
It's time to rebuild my rear diff. With 227k on it, it's starting to whine. I plan to keep my 3.73 gearing so I don't have to touch the front, but wanted to ask a few questions to ensure I have everything.
I'll use a Detroit trutrac (EAT915A550) but I need to know what else to buy.
How are Yukon gears? I found a rebuild set, but the shop I'm looking at said to just use stock ford. I'm open as the Ford parts have held up well for the past 12 years.
What all do I need to get this job done right? Are the aftermarket diff covers worth the cost or just a pretty something to look at? Should I try and find a f350 sway bar I go with an aftermarket?
Finally what small parts will be needed that you don't think about until in the middle of the job?
Thanks

Prussian blueing, sometimes also called "engineer's blue" or "bearing blue". It might be difficult to find, but well-worth the time to have some on-hand when doing differential gears.
Seriously, though, unless you are very experienced at setting up rear ends, you might just want to leave this to a professional drive-line shop of good repute.
Otherwise, you might find yourself doing it all over again.
Just my two cents......., what it costs, and what it's worth.
