Hazard / turn signal issues
Hello all,
I have a 1997 F250, and I’m having an issue with my right front right turn signal and the hazard lights.
The right front turn indicator only works if I carefully hold turn signal leveralmost (but not quite) to the point of clicking into place. Right rear turn signal works normally. The right indicator light in the dash works when the front turn signal is on. Left front and rear turn signals work normally.
The hazard lights usually don’t come on when I press the hazard light switch. When they do come on, ONLY the right front works. When they're on, I can hear the flasher clicking. I replaced the hazard flasher relay – no change in the above behavior. Jiggling the turn signal lever encourages the hazards tostart going, but only the right front light flashes.
From reading I’ve done on this site and elsewhere, it looks like the multi function switch could be the culprit. I have some basic electrical troubleshooting skills. Is the multi function switch something thatcan be taken apart to diagnose, clean, and reassemble? Any other suggestions how to proceed?
Thank you in advance.

Then I'm willing to bet the multifunction switch is bad since the wiring is similar from the ranger and old body style trucks. They didn't see the upgrades until the round body style 97 F250

To close the loop on this. After reading the responses on this thread and searching around the site, it seemed like the multi-function switch was likely the culprit. My curiosity (and cheapness) got the best of me, so I removed the MFS and took it apart to see if it was fixable. The issue turned out to just be corrosion/buildup on the sliding contacts inside the MFS, which was easily and quickly removed with some rubbing alcohol and a paper towel. Put it back together, and voila - hazards and turn signals work perfectly again.
Taking about the MFS took just a few minutes after I got it out of the truck. There are a number of moving parts inside, but if you're careful to keep them from flying apart as you pull off the cover to the MFS, it's not hard to keep it together.
I appreciated the info. from this board in troubleshooting this, so I figured I'd share my experience getting it fixed
