226 Bevel Throat Air Cleaner

226 Bevel Throat Air Cleaner
Does anyone know if there are any aftermarket air cleaners made to fit the Holley 847 carburetor for a F1 truck that has the bevel throat flange? I don't have any original air cleaners for this carb and I need something that fits this strange flange. I can't seem to find an original and was hoping someone has found an aftermarket replacement. From what I have read the V8 truck carb with a similar throat flange is slightly larger (1/4"?) than the 847 six cylinder unit and may not work. Anyone had to find a replacement air cleaner for a 226?

Toby...I'll keep it going for a little while anyway.
This one sure looks like the original one on my 226:
The seller says it hasn't been installed, just needs to be cleaned up.

I had trouble posting the pics, but I can see three pics in my post. Two are of my carb, and the third is the 847.

This is correct. The 6 cylinder carb has a smaller top opening than the V8 version. Air cleaners do not interchange. I may have one original 6 cylinder oil bath air cleaner left. I know I sold one, can't remember if I sold both of the ones I had.

The pictures you posted are exactly what I have and need the air cleaner for. I am amazed at the different variations that Ford used on the 226 over the years. I currently have 3 different model Holley "847" carburetors for the 226. One is a straight smooth flange which I was told was a "car" version (stamped 8HA), another is smooth flange unit with a slightly different throttle body which is suppose to be for the 46/47 226 (5GA), and then lastly is the bevel flanged unit for the truck which is just stamped "847". The ID tags that Ford used on the carbs for identification are all long gone. I have an air cleaner for the smooth flange "car" carb but I want to use the truck carb just in case the calibration between the two carbs are different since my engine is for my 1950 F1.
I am kind of an expert on carburetors since I worked as a flow technician for Ford Motor in Dearborn at the Fuel Systems Engineering Laboratory in the '70's and 80's. If I still had access to my old flow bench I could tell if the carbs were calibrated differently. Unfortunately, I am now retired and those flow benches went away in the '90's when everything went to fuel injection.
By the way, the V8's (on the 239 anyway) use a 2 barrel carb while the 226 uses a one barrel.
