I do believe there is a pin hole somewhere, but im not sure. when it is not driven for a while and it cools down it does seem to be getting coolant in the cylinder and I can smell coolant burning. but after I drive it for a bit it seems to seal up and it runs clean. im just not sure whether it is a head gasket or an intake manifold gasket. I am veering away from head gasket do to the reasons that it does not seem to be missing at all. even when cold. and I do believe awhile back I posted on here that it was running rough with a vibration going down the road. but would not give any codes. had me really wondering. then it locked up on me after I let it sit for a few weeks. I think it was all connected. but now after purging all cylinders and cleaning everything out, it has taken a turn for the better. It is really running very good right now. I really don't understand. im thinking if it was the head gasket wouldn't it lose compression and give a code? so what if it was the number 5 cylinder? would that have a different outcome? just curious, I may be wrong on what cylinder it came from, of course I got sprayed in the face and went in to a panic, I may have mistaken what cylinder it came from.

#5 can get coolant in the cyl from a failed intake gasket . The water port is directly beside that intake port . #6 is not .

so then I really should go ahead and do a full head gasket and intake man gasket fix when I get home? either way it cant hurt and I did buy the truck used and dirt cheap. had it for almost 2 yrs now and did nothing but drive it since I got it. other then annual tune up.

just to let you know I am familiar with the older type motors and have rebuilt them before, never messed with the newer over head cam or the newer ones due to the emissions. always been scared of that stuff. then awhile back I did replace egr and found that the emissions on the ford f150 is not that complex at all. so again just not to familiar with the newer models overhead cam and the advanced technology they have now. and that's why ive come here to get advice from the more experience ford junkies. lol with all due respect.

No .
If just an intake gasket , fix that .
These are not " simple " head gasket swaps . Much is involved .
Find the source of the leak , and fix accordingly .

Yes , a few . I would pull the intake , after draining the coolant , and inspect the gaskets . A failing gasket will be obvious .
