[QUOTE=oddfordjunkie;15060313]Is that a magnet on your PTO cover? If you're doing that for insurance then why not change all your plugs to the magnet style instead of using the standard Pipe Plugs that are in it?

Yes, the work looks top notch. (<pun haha)[="" quote]

Thanks! Yes, it is a magnet. The reason it's on there in the photo is simply because it was on there when I bought it, so I put it back. It is not currently on there though because I was thinking of going the plug route like you mentioned. That way I can pull any potential debris out with the plug when I change the oil. Hopefully I never have a need for that.

Reading this is inspirational. Keep at it. Wanna hurry up with my fummins but can't find a donor. How much did the donor set you back?

And how well did the advanced adapter fit? I want to use my BW1356 t case with the dodge nv4500 and I noticed AA had an adapter that might need minor mods

Thanks. The adapter works great, great fit. We'll see how well it works once the engine is actually turning the wheels. I paid $3,200 for the donor truck. Well worth the peace of mind buying an engine that you can actually test drive as opposed to a junk yard unit.

Here it is before hand all muddy and greasy, just the way it came out of the truck.

Any tips on how you got this clean? Mine looked about the same when it came out and I HATED cleaning that sucker. I kept thinking.... "There has to be a better way" than using a scrub brush and some kerosene. How did you do it?

I just knocked the dirt off with a scrub brush and some degreaser before disassembly, then once I had it stripped down I scrubbed each part with degreaser as well as some wire wheel work on the main case. I then painted or powder coated each part before reassembly. I used Castrol Super Clean degreaser and a combination of wire wheels and steel, brass, and nylon brushes.

Or a Rubbermaid tub full of kerosene to soak for a week. Which is what I'm going to do with mine. Then a trip into my bead blaster.

Paint! Stage 1

Alright. Sorry for the absence folks, I've been spending my time studying for a promotional exam at work. Anyway, back on the project now.

Truck cab is been blasted and epoxied. I'm painting the interior, door jambs, cowl, underhood, and inner fenders now. This way I can start re-assembling the dash, installing the a/c, running the wiring, etc. Then I can finish the body work and paint the rest of the truck hopefully late spring.

Here she is in epoxy primer.

Now for some base and clear. The color is Ford Sterling Grey Metallic paint code UJ. It's a deep color with plenty of metallic. Hard to tell in the photos. Here's the underside of the hood.

The inner fenders I sprayed with Upol Raptor truck bed coating. The pictures don't do it justice. It looks great!

The cowl is painted base/clear, but the firewall is truck bed coating as well. It looks a little tiger-striped in the photo, but that's only because it's still drying down.

Door jamb, base and three coats of clear

Underside of the hood in the sunlight.

If you don't mind, how much did that much of the Second Skin cost you?

Glad to see progress being made.

Thanks guys.

Found the invoices. Two separate orders, 3 gallons total. Here's the breakdown. Probably too much info.
I did the floor, rear and sides of the cab including in the void spaces, firewall, underside of dash, and roof. Specified thickness sprayed on with 3-coats.

First order:
