OP stated that the rotors are for the front of a '87 chevy 3/4ton 4×4 ... these rotors have no provisions for an E-brake.

I'm using a TSM transfer case brake. I get pictures of that process up when I get to it.

No, I'm normally a big advocate of fabbing whatever I can myself, but with no access to a milling machine, I ordered some up. I suppose I could have used a plasma cutter and cut some out, but oh well. They're nice brackets and they come from Blackbird Custom Truck up here in Washington (on the other side of the state though in Spokane).

Ford Rear Disc Brake Kits for 9", Dana 60, Dana 70 and Sterling

The ones I got are halfway down the page, brackets only. The whole disc conversion only cost me about $200 give or take. Not bad!

Engine Fitment

Ok, this is gonna be a pain. I was warned I would have to cut the crossmember, and sure enough. I got ahold of a set of "Conversion Specialists" motor mounts for this, and I went back and actually read the instructions (not much of an instruction guy normally). They state that you have to "notch the crossmember, you don't need to cut it, just notch it". Well apparently when they mean by "not cut it" is to cut the hell out of it. What the? Anyway, here is my first test fit with more to follow.

This is what I figure I will have to cut out. That sucks.

Yeah, that's a lot. I'm sure I'll be doing several more test-fits before I box this thing in.

WOW, why is it I miss out on these awesome threads until they are well on their way, I am planning on doing this exact thing as well with my 79 F350, I already have a 92 D250 truck with the Cummins but want a NV4500 before I start the swap, I am excited to see progress

Ohh, also the kit for the motor mounts that you got, did you get the kit to go in a 4x4 truck, if so the cross member is in a totally different location and the notching would have likely been dramatically less, the 4x2 frames crossmember is right in the way though so thats why you have had to cut so much

If you plan on a/c, your going to have to find a high mount kit for it or cut a whole lot more out of your crossmember. That's why I just cut the whole thing out and started fresh.

In the end I test fit my cummins 5 times before she stayed permanently.
