Just swapped the 460ci to a 7.3 idi in our 1989 super duty. Oil cooler leaking at filter housing to oil cooler o ring. Oil cooler is rusty. If I am going to rebuild, should I replace cooler? They are pricey. Is it hard to change with engine installed. Don't really want to pull again. Thanks for any help.

 

They can be done with the engine in, sounds like it's quite a job though.

If it's rusty then there's a good chance you'll be replacing it. I know what you mean, I saw the prices of them on ebay, ouch. Maybe someone here will have one they can sell you.

 

Thanks, Yep real pricey, but better than doing it twice. Just want to be done after 3 months of engine, tranny and dash swap then paint. Got on the road and now a oil leek.
