Very low production vehicle, not many around to compare it to, usually purchased by governments, gas and electric or telephone companies doing work in remote off road areas. By the color of the interior, which looks to be original special order green, I say this truck was originally purchased by the Bell Telephone System. Front grill guard and bed were installed by 2 or 3 additional owners. It appears to be very clean and solid, no rust in typical places like front edge of hood near V8 emblem, and no rust in rain gutter, probably has solid floor and cab mounts, I would say about 5K. to the right person ( backyard mechanic type) who could use this type of vehicle on a large ranch, but doesn't want to pay 20K-30K for a newer computer controlled high tech dealer only when repairs are needed vehicle. The grill on this truck is correct, 1966 F 700 and F 750's used the carryover 1965 grill.

Hmm, you nailed me on this once before, inre to 1961/62's. But this time, I looked the grille up beforehand.

Parts catalog says 1966 F100/750 use the same grilles: C6TZ-8200-A painted and C6TZ-8200-B bright finish (anodized aluminum).

But, you won't see a 1965 part number in this catalog, because...

9/1965: FoMoCo obsoleted the 1965 grilles, replaced them with 1966 grilles for use as service part replacements.

How do I know? 9/1965 while working at Stockton Quincy Ford, ordered a '65 Custom Cab/Ranger grille to replace the painted grille in my '65 Standard Cab.

FoMoCo packing slip said '65 grille replaced by '66. I returned it.

I would say around the 4,000-5,500 range as long as its running driving and stops. People like the looks of these old trucks and some prefer to use them on there farms, tree service and other businesses. Looks like it's 4 wheel drive that should help sell it as it can cover more terrains. What does the badge say on the side of the cowl (between the front fender and door)? Can't see it to well on my screen. Also any metal plates riveted in the door jam on the drivers door?

 

Still stand behind my statements. These "artists renditions" are pretty lame, taken from '66 sales brochures, but clearly show '65 grille

 

5,000 sounds fair, you might get as high as 8,000 or so if all the bushings and such are good, but I've been told I can be to optimistic sometimes. Looks mean though, great truck.

 

Hi Maam, I used to drive a '59 Dodge one ton 4wd. It had a winch too. It was a GREAT truck. Wish I never sold it. I was living in Minn. and was going to move to Ga. Didn't see a way to move that too. I sold it for waaay cheap. I bought it from a propane delivery co in Illinois. It was barely road ready when I bought it. I bought it in the summer of '75. Completely went thru it. Hence it took me to Minn. As to your truck: I would get a good price for it. If you are not in a financial bind and don't need the $ from the truck... then wait for a buyer who sees the REAL value of what you have there. I think $ 5,000.00 is the minimum. Considering the "plastic" trucks that are offered now... you really have a solid truck there. Best to you, Pete

This would only have occurred during the first 4 weeks of production, circa August 15-September 15 1965.

You could not get a 1965 painted or anodized aluminum grille after 9/1965 as Ford obsoleted them, replaced them with 1966 grilles for use as service part replacements.

 

This truck in question was built well past 9-15-65 ( 779281 ) given by OP. This blows a hole in your early production theory. All '66 F 700 and F 750's used the '65 grill period. Trying to purchase an exact service part ( SP ) after the model year is over is another ball of wax. The 61-63 "gear and lightning bolt" and the '64-'66 "Product of Ford Motor Company" horn buttons were replaced in later years with the generic '67-'70 "Ford Oval" horn buttons as ( SPs). Yeah, it fits , but it doesn't look the same.

 

Your right about that '61 horn button, the joker at the Ford parts department back in the mid 70's tried to sell me the newer one, not the correct gear and lightning bolt style, I remember him saying take it, or leave it. Where is the parts listing from a 1966 or 1967 parts book? The document shown must be from 1971 at the earliest.
