What can I expect out of MY Code NVK5
I've got a 2000 f350 psd, with a NVK5 engine code. I see some references to different performance capabilities with different codes. Is there a list code numbers and rating of how "good they are".
My Dad is looking for used crew cab, are there any codes to avoid?
I have a Diablo 78 chip, with gauges, and I have recently put in a 4" exhaust. Is it reasonable to consider a 125/54 Delta chip will give me real usable 125 extra horses or will it just give me a great smoke screen?
What is the real truth about mileage. When I got my Diablo, the trip computer showed great mileage, but the real numbers are down around 13-15. Will a 54 be more efficient than a 78, I understand the heavy throttle issue, but under reasonable driving conditions, could it eak out a savings?
Or should I just reset the computer everytime I'm up to cruising speed so I can think I'm getting 35 miles to the gallon.
So, Is a 54 setting more efficient, is a 125 far more powerful, than the 78 I have now? Are there other tweaks that can be done for the code that I have? Should I lurk around my neighborhood looking for a stock truck that has a better code, and siruptitiously "change codes" with him?
Or, should I be happy that I have a 7.3 and call it a day?

About the fuel mileage in the console.....
It lies terribly - in my 2002 it would tell me of amazing mileage, that did not show at the pumps. I then upgraded the tank to 46 gallons and it would tell me I was empty with half a tankfull left. It cured itself one day when I almost ran out of fuel, less than 3 gallons left before I found diesel, and since then the display is accurate to 1 tenth of a mile, and the distance to empty is within 20 miles. (at over 800 miles a tankfull, 20 miles is pretty accurate.)

125HP depends on the dyno used and the original code verses the new code. Different dyno configurations can be off by 15-20% from each other.
When it comes to codes, an NVK4 Diablo program will give more of a gain when used on a PMT2 programmed computer than it will on a PMT3 computer or NVKx computer. That's why it's "up to xxxHP" because there are so many codes out there. The best bet is to get an intake system when using a 125HP chip. Not only will it lower EGTs but the turbo will spool up quicker and more of the fuel will get burned instead of puffed out as smoke.
The best mileage gains will be with 40-60HP programs.
