I just replaced my 1986 f250 rear tank and sending unit but did not replace the fuel pump. And now the pump is a lot louder then it was before I did the job. Takes longer to start and it humms really high pitch then low pitch and my fuel gauge is stuck. Hope you all can help me out thanks

 

Looks like this install may have been a failure the whole way through. I would check the pickup on the end of the sending unit. It had a large filter thing on it didn't it?

 

could be sucking air now, movement could have cracked the pick up line

 

yes the fuel pump had a strainer on it.
