Headlight Switch

My head lights stopped working last night on my 1978 F350 (140" WB) with the 460 CI. I replaced the dimmer switch on the floor & that didn't fix it. Picked up a new head light switch and easily removed the switch ****. But I can't figure out how to remove the switch from behind the dash. I can get my hand up under the dash & grab hold of the switch but any suggestions on how to remove it? Thanks!

You need to remove the dash bezel, the trim piece that covers everything. Then you will see a nut that needs to be removed to slide the switch out

What he said for the headlight switch.

Use a small flat tip screwdriver push the lock tab on the back side of the wiper switch **** itself to get it off the shaft. The wiper switch shaft stays in the switch.

Once the bash bezel is off you will see the lock nut (pt#11650) for the headlight switch, its easy.

The nut for the headlight switch is a funny one too. it's like a weird spanner nut, you either need a really wide flathead screwdriver, or take a smaller one and tap it around in a circle until it's loose. Honestly a putty knife used as a screw driver doesn't sound far fetched for the idea.

My switch was the factory one and it had a regular old shallow nut on it. 1/2" socket took it right off.

Then again though that was the factory switch (motorcraft one not "el cheapo" replacement), who says the damn PO didn't put that shallow nut on there...

The nut is weird. Mine was loose enough to start with that I was able to get at it with a pair of needle-noise pliers spread open about half an inch.
