Looking for a new hood.

So my hood decided not to completely latch and it flew up onto the drip rails. There is a nice dent in the middle and the body shop wants 1000 dollars to fix it. So begins the search for a new hood. I've been checking pick-n-pull, car-parts.com, craigslist. But was wondering if anyone had any more ideas of places to look. I'm looking for a 70-72 F100 Hood preferably in red.

You may have a tough time finding a specific to 1970/72 F100 hood, cuz there really isn't any such thing. The same hood fits ALL F100/750's!

1970: Ford replaced the 1967/69 hood with the 1970 (1970/72) hood for use as a service part replacement.

D0TZ-16612-A (replaced C7TZ-16612-A) .. Hood Panel / Obsolete ~ Applications: 1967/72 F100/750.

Having the hood fly up on these trucks is rather common. People tend to slam the heavy hood down, over time this causes the hood latch plate to bend downwards.

So, you may think the hood has latched, but it may not have. The safety catch is just about worthless.

Coming up: 3 day Portland swap meet: April 4/5/6. portlandswapmeet.com.

This is....AFAIK...the 2nd largest swap meet on the west coast, being surpassed only by the Pomona swap meet.

If planning to go, make sure you make motel/hotel reservations at least a week beforehand, cuz if you don't, you may have to sleep in the vehicle as I did in 1975.

Being in Oregon or lots of places on the west coast. you should have no trouble finding a replacement hood and at a reasonable price to. I see parts/ trucks all the time there listed online. As ND said that swap meet will have everything you need hood and probably a latch assembly while your at it.

And hood hinges. Make sure you get a latch for the correct years as stated above. The sheetmetal panel that surrounds the latch is different between the two latches.

No.
C7TZ-16796-E Right & C7TZ-16797-E Left .. Hood Hinges / Obsolete

1967/72 F100/350. Notice that while the hood is the same, 1967/72 F100/750, the hinges are not the same.
