distributor gear and comp cams

distributor gear and comp cams

hey guys.

got a question.


do i have to buy a distributor gear from comp cams to go with my comp cams cam? or could i just use the gear thats already on my distributor?


thanks for the help.

I do believe only the billet rollers need the bronze dist. gear....

I've never heard of anyone needing to do that before. However, Comp would be the one with the correct answer to that question. Just shoot them an email, or give them a call.

yea they say pick the one from there video...but the problem is there around 115 bucks..and i dont have that money right now..it will be awhile untill i get it.

plus i cant fine one for the 4.9...all i come up with is a bronze one..

Cast iron and composite gears are suited for hydraulic and solid flat tappet cams, while melonized steel and composite gears mesh with austempered ductile iron hydraulic and solid roller cams, or those camshafts that have been nitrided. Finally, either bronze or composite distributor gears are your options if your camshaft is a billet steel hydraulic or solid roller.

Assuming you're talking about the 252h, 260h or 268h cams then the stock cast iron dist. gear is the ticket.

we have this cam and lifter set.it calls for a Composite or cast iron gear,but i cannot find one for a ford 4.9 300 6.

The stock gear is cast iron, no worries.
