Finally found the proper torque converter nuts for my block plate project.

Wow in the words of the beloved, Gerry Garcia "what a long strange trip it's been". If you recall my lengthily thread about adding a block plate or indexing plate for my friends in the arctic LOL, I was having trouble finding the proper lock nuts for the torque converter bolts. I tried and failed on my own, I tried the Ford dealer, and followed all the suggestions from my FTE friends, still failed I tried the B&M, and Summit web sites, still no go. I finally realized B&M did not use the 3/8 X 24 bolts that Ford calls for but instead they use a 7/16 x 20 bolt. Man do I feel stupid. Any way, in the process of all this I found a real cool high quality family owned nut and bolt store only 20 or so miles from me, I SCOOOORD!!!!!!! OK now that this little bit of info is out there to maybe help somebody else with the same problem. I will show you one more pic if the trimmed and completed inspection cover, along with all the nuts I tried and did not work. The nice person at valley Wide Fasteners advised me that the lock nuts she provided would actually provide more resistance against loosening, that grade 8 Flange nuts? I don't know how true that is but I am done. Thank you all for listening and helping.

Heck Ross, you did nothing but help the best you could with the information that was given to you to work with. I will take any advice you have to give any day of the week, Your a top notch mechanic in any body's book. We are all family here, exchanging ideas and information. Heck even the Ford book had no way of knowing that an aftermarket supplier changed the original design. As always I have learned quite a few things off this and every project. Thanks to everyone who posted, and helped.

I'm glad you found them Jim
Sometimes chasing those kind of things can be a real hassle.

You'll rest easier now with the right nuts on there.

Bobby
