What is this?!

I have an electrical connection hanging above my brake pedal in my 69 F 100 that I have no idea what it is for. I am having trouble with my turning indicators brake lights and instrument panel lights and I am wondering if this not being connected has anything to do with my problem. I am having trouble posting the pics I took of it but it is a cubic rectangle of black plastic about 1.25" X 2" X 2" with 4 flat copper circles on one side for connections.

Any help?
Thanks,
Byron

sounds like your neutral safety switch that should be attached to your steering column.

My guess is some aftermarket trailer brake controller WIRING. Yes, pics and also what color are the wires? Including any tracer colors that may not show up in a pic.

If it was converted from an automatic to a manual column, there is a jumper plug that needs to be installed, but I think that is for neutral safety and back up lights.

Beginning 1967, brake (stop) lamp switch located on brake pedal, has a dash harness feed wire connected to it. 1967 switch is 1967 only.

Parts catalog pics:

Left - 1967/69: 4 way flasher switch located on the inside of the glove box. 1968/69's with factory installed integral A/C uses a different 4 way switch than without.

Right - 1970/72: 4 way flasher switch located on dash below instrument cluster.

Notice locations of T/S & 4 way flashers. Both have 2 prongs, but 4 way is a H/D unit, has a louder CLICK.

Yep. Sure is. You can either buy one of the glove box factory ones with my part number above like Bill's pic, or you can do what I did on my 68. Both switches Bill showed take the same wiring pigtail. I simply cut the connector off at my glove box, extended those wires over to under the cluster. reconnected the wiring connector, and mounted the switch out of my 1971 parts truck under the cluster. There-by filling an open position. My cargo lamp is connected to the dome lamp so I had no "cargo" switch under my cluster.

What I'm wanting to do is buy the switch but make it so it acts as a solenoid shutoff switch and hide it in the truck somewhere.
