First Diesel now Gas
What might be the ramifications of this, I would imagine the fuel injectors are going to complain just like the diesel's do, now we'll be putting in lubricants in gas vehicles pretty soon.
EPA Set To Unveil New Sulfur Emissions Rule.
The New York Times (3/3, Davenport, Subscription Publication) reports the Environmental Protection Agency is set “to unveil a major new regulation on Monday that forces oil refiners to strip out sulfur, a smog-forming pollutant linked to respiratory disease, from American gasoline blends, according to people familiar with the agency’s plans.” Supporters “of the rule say it will be President Obama’s most significant public health achievement in his second term, but opponents, chiefly oil refiners, say it is unnecessarily costly and an unfair burden on them.” The agency “estimates that the new rule will drastically reduce soot and smog in the United States, and thus rates of diseases associated with those pollutants, while slightly raising the price of both gasoline and cars.” As a result of the rule, oil refiners will need “to install expensive new equipment to clean sulfur out of gasoline and force automakers to install new, cleaner-burning engine technology.”

Meanwhile CA air quality is being affect by China burning used tires. Gotta love wringing that last drop of blood out of our corpse while Dracula over there is knocking them back like Ron Burgundy with Scotch. Right when direct injection in gas engines is taking off, too.

When you think about the whole aspect of cleaning our gas as to pollute less it makes perfectly good sense. It's all about the way it's done. European fuel as a whole is much cleaner that what we use, not just in what makes it up but the purity of it. Maybe a couple new Hi tech refineries and a better distribution system would help that out. But we all know that's not very likely to happen.
Just like we all know that a power struggle in the Ukraine shouldn't affect the cost of a gallon of fuel, but it does, and it's our own fault for letting that happen.
Oh yea we will be switching to SUMMER gas this month, just another reason to **** me off.
Sorry I think I got off the beaten path on my own post.
