pull bed or fuel tank?

I am looking to clean the tanks on my 96 f250 as the fuel bowl gets about a 1/8" of stuff on the bottom of the tank every filter change. also would like to do the fuel tank mods so its not such a pain to baby sit the fill nozzle. would it be best to drop both tanks or remove the bed? if I removed the bed I would also paint the frame and rust proof the underside of the bed

I personally prefer to stand up to work, as opposed to lying on my back.
I would pull the bed .
It is not necessary to remove the bed , lifting o e side gives adequate room to service the tank .

I am removing the bed on my 96 in the spring to change a leaky rear tank and both fuel pumps. I also need to do spring hangers and shackles.

Just cut the heads off the bolts, I don't think anyone has been successful removing the bolts without using 6 or 7 torx heads.

I would remove the bed too. I hook chains diagonally across the bed in the tie down loops and lift it with an engine lift. Much easier than trying to lower the fuel tank.

Couldn't agree more. If you can, take the bed off.

When it comes to "working" on any bed, I always prefer to lie on my back.
