Some news to pass along.

On some other Forums I see that HP Tuners can now delete 2011-up PATS from your PCM. Lund Racing is reported to also be able to do this as well.

HP Tuners' software can turn off CAN bus communications with any unwanted modules, like the ABS, Traction Control, Air Bag, Stability Control, etc., modules and also delete the OBDII codes that get created if a module is missing.

This should make it a lot easier to put a 5.0L Coyote with the 6R80 into any car or truck.

Also, Dakota Digital and others make a device that plugs onto the OBDII port and picks up the Speedo, water temp, RPM, off the CAN bus and let's you display them on one of their clusters.

Has there been any new info on the use of the 6R80 trans with the Coyote engine. I am to the point of buying a motor/trans combo. Still don't know if it's possible to do a coyote/6R80 without major headaches. I would like to use the auto trans, but would go with a manual if I have to. There are a few F150 5.0 coyote's for around $5K to $6K, but they all have the 6R80 trans.

I've heard that a 6R80 controller is due out around the end of this year. I had considered waiting to do the 6R80, but with multiple controllers out there for the 4R70W, I decided to go that route instead. Plus the fact the 4R70W is tough as nails, bolts right up to the Coyote, cheaper, and more available.

BTW, I got my used Coyote motor (from 2013 F150) with only 8k miles for $2750 from LKQ.

Can I put a Ford MT 82 6 speed manual trans on an F150 Coyote motor?

BDYY, Did the LKQ motor come with all the front end systems? Starter, alternator, PS pump, air compressor etc.

This link might have some useful info for you. 5.0L Coyote Modular V-8 Swap Guide. I'm sure its common knowledge by now, but the Mustang/Aluminator engines have no provisions for the Ford hydraulic P/S pump. The new Stang's use an electric rack. Vintage air makes a bolt on hydraulic P/S pump for that application though to work with their A/C compressor.

Good luck with it!

I keep hearing the 6r80 controller is coming out. Performance automatic said they'd have one last february, then march, then august, now they are saying the end of the year. I have talked to several of the controller manufacturers. Some say that the trans is awesome while some say to stay away from it cause its too complicated and weak. I got sick of waiting and just went with the 4r70w.

4R70W is $4560.00 it just seems excessive for an auto trans and controller when I can buy the 5.0 F150 coyote for $3000.00

I thought so as well, that's why I had a local trans shop build me one. I paid $1500 for it. Didn't include controller, flex plate or fill tube.

I bought the starter, alternator and throttle body from LKQ separately from the motor for $225 shipped. After doing a lot of research, I bought the power steering kit from KRC because it still allows the stock AC compressor to stay in its stock location.

I bought a 30k miles 4R75W trans (2008 Grand Marquis) for $600 w/converter, block plate, and crossmember from a local guy I know. The trans controller is US Shift (Baumann) for $585. No way was I going with the PA kit for over $4k!

Recently Baumann came out with a new controller that costs more, but based upon its upgrades, it's worth it.

BDYY, A question. I got my F150 Coyote today, and picked up the 4R75W last week. Do you know if the stock flexplate on the F150 engine, that was hooked to the 6R80 trans will work with the 4R75W?

2015 F150 5.0 Coyote engine. It has 186 miles on it. I was gifted a set of Mustang GT Coyote exhaust manifolds. We will see which set fits best.

Rebuilt HD 4R75W from a 2010 vehicle.

fbb1951,

Yes, the plate that came with your Coyote 5.0 should work fine because the Coyote 5.0 and 4.6/5.4 are the same bolt pattern. I bought a new 4R70W flexplate from American Muscle for $40 and it fit perfectly (because neither my engine or trans came with one).

I ended up using the stock Mustang manifolds as they were much easier to clear frame and steering than the stock F150 manifolds. Plus the Mustang manifolds look better and should make a little more top end power.

I gotta admit I'm a little jealous since you got the 2015 engine which makes 25 more HP than the 2011-14.
