1983 351W carburetor woes

Hello group,
My name is Tim from the lovely state of Virginia. I have a 1983 F150 w/351W, 4 speed w/granny gear.
My current problem is the carb (I think). I'm getting fuel to the carb but the accelerator pump isn't delivering. I've replaced the accelerator diaphragm on the carb, cleaned the fuel filter, checked all associated vacuum hoses (there aren't many).
Now I'm thinking the jets may be plugged. Is there some type of electrical module that also operates the function of the carb?
The engine will run if fuel is manually delivered into the carb but dies immediately once that fuel is spent.
Thanks!

If there is no fuel in the bowl the carb won't work. But if there is fuel and the jets are plugged the accelerator pump should work - unless it is plugged as well. I've never had main jets plug, but I have had the accelerator pump's discharge jets plug, and that was from rust and silt.

How do you know that you are getting fuel to the carb? If you have the 2150 two barrel you can actually pull the top and see everything work. So, tell me/us more about what you've done to determine what is right and wrong.

Tim

It's pretty common for the fuel pumps (particularly aftermarket) to fail, which would give the symptoms you have.

Is a good supply of gas being delivered to the carb?

I checked fuel delivery by disconnecting the line right at the carb. I have a 2 barrel, not sure of the number. I'll pull the top as you said and see what's happening. Supposed to be warm enough by Sunday for a backyard mechanic! Thanks.
