5.4 Performence and upgrades?
I have a 1997 5,4 Triton auto.
Looking for some performance ideas
From what i hear cold air intakes and exhaust is a waste of money unless its a "built" motor
I don't think I'm looking to do any thing crazy.
Links would be helpful
I've seen super chargers for these motors, has any one done a turbo?
i found a used sct tuner for $275. Good deal?
what tuners are better?
thanks

"Jmangun191- I have a 99 f150 5.4 honestly there isnt much you can do to make the engine more powerful. The things you can do like tuners and chips just make it harder on all the other parts on the truck and isnt worth it"
this is sad to hear. I'd still like to get a tuner to more the speed limiter but not hardly worth it just for that

i have a 5.4 super crew and haven't really messed with the motor much accept for a super 40 series muffler, and thats just for personal sound preference. but i have a friend hows got on 04 5.4 and he has 3 inch cat back exhaust and a bully dog tuner one that monitors all is engine parameters and he has gained like 25hp and a few ft-lb torque. his truck really moves. he also removed his speed limiter and can get up to 120 no problem now. so did they change something in the newer 5.4s to make them more tunable?

There are tons of things you can do to make your 5.4 quicker. Start with exhaust first. Long tube headers alone will get you 20 hp. What gears are you running? A gear swap would get you out of the hole quicker. Heads, intake, larger throttle body, tuner. Have a look at SummitRacing.com. Plenty of performance parts for your truck.
