air brakes on 48 f-6

How hard would it be to put a semi axles under the truck and run air brakes? This would help my gearing issue and original brake parts issues also the wheel issues that we all know about. Those are the reason I an considering this route and I can find the axles cheap from a local truck yard.

I think the only problem would be finding a front axle that is narrow enough to fit between the fenders.

I think you would be better getting an axle from a truck that has hydraulic brakes because you would have to rig a compressor, brake peddle valves and park brake valves and all the safety and check valves that go along with an air system.

In some locales, Air Brakes necessitate a CDL license to operate.

Air brakes on a light truck would be way overkill. Not needed.

Not that hard to do if you can find junkyard components. Use S cams
modify brake shoes to use Bendex rollers. Welding the rear mount to the
axle. I have a master Bendex air brake book Napa gave me with all this
stuff. You can use the Bendex nylon tubing make a compressor mount,
a little time and have brakes. I have seen many people using a simple
York A/Compressor with a simple pressure switch. Due to this brain dead
government its more like you need a cdl for the dispicable hydaulic brake
systems which in my mind should be banned along with its complicated
abs and all that junk designed for stupid drivers accidents are caused by
the nut holding the steering wheel and not the steel nut. I would even
trust electric braking rather than blowing hydraulic brake lines. Depending
where you live, these brain deads salt roads here when it rains, then
wonder why they are broke....and a 2 yr vehicals brake lines are rotted..
