Truck pulling powerstroke

I went to a stock truck pull this weekend and the first three

trucks that won the diesel class were cummins and they all had

chrome stacks and a lot of smoke

I have a 2003 ford F350 powerstroke 7.3 six speed reg cab and I

was going to pull it but the class was full when I got there. As of

now my truck is stock.

What should I do to my truck to be able to compete with the

cummins. I thought about a chip and bigger exhaust but that

don't put me at 500 horse like the top three cummins dodges had

The guys with the Cummins have probably dove into way more than you're gonna wanna go into if this is a daily driver. They've probably done a bunch of things like changed turbo's (maybe staged or twin turbos), higher pressure injectors, an extreme chip (probably 100 HP+), propane, nitrous, custom exhausts, intakes, etc etc. Some of them have probably had internal engine parts changed out as well. If this isn't gonna be a daily driver and just a pulling truck, I say go for it and tear the Cummins a new ****.

Ive heard of truck powerstrokes with over 500 hp. and 1200 trq. and still get 16 mpg but the question is do u have the money to invest in it. It aint gonna be cheap. But then again it'll be a hoss.

Start saving. I don't mean to sound like a smart *** but that's it. Cryo treated block to withstand unheard of cylinder pressures.....$6,730, forged crank from Hypermax....$980, custom Arias pistons....$1,420, heads by Dover....$2,100. Your injectors are right about 120c.c stock, mine are custom Bosch at 520c.c, $1,500 a set, twin turbos from Laredo Performance $4,315 etc, etc....It's all about how crazy you want to get and money.
