I've looked through quite a few 4X4 issue threads and haven't seen my issue described yet so I thought I would start this thread to use while figuring it out (unless someone already knows the answer in which case chime on in).

When in 4X4 high most times all is well but every once in a while the lights on the dash will flash from 4X4 to 4Lo then 4AWD then settle right back where it should be at 4X4. I don't think that the front axle is being affected as the truck doesn't seem to fall out of and then back into front axle lock.

My guess is that this is an electrical issue but will get to the bottom of it and report back. Anyone with any insight, please post your thoughts.

The GEM module lights the dash lamps.
Is the GEM getting wet from a leaking windshield and now corroded?

Thanks, I'll check that. The truck is garage kept so although that wouldn't prevent the windshield from leaking it should reduce the amount of ingress (I hope). I'll just wait a bit until I can stand laying under the dash for a while. That always gives me an upset stomach ~:-(>
