64 F250 4X4 120"WB - BEDS / THANKS FTE

First off, thanks to EricJ and 66stang for nearly immediate help with my post for a bed. FTE is awesome!! This one may be for the number guru: What is the deal with 1964 beds? I have seen photo after photo of 64 F250 4x4's with style side "long bed" and 1964 F100 4x4's with style side short beds. The style side I refer to has the nice "tear drop" wheel well and the body lines sure seem to match the cab. I've been told if I go with a short bed on my 120"WB, I would have to move the rear spring perches / whole she-bang 5" forward to create a 115" WB such as on the 65 / 66 model year? Are the "long bed" 64 250 4x4's I see moving the whole assembly aft?? Appreciate answers from anyone with facts!! Thanks!!

You can also make a longer WB and use a style side bed from a 65
These trucks are already oxcart type suspension, shorter WB?

IF the first pic of the red truck with style side bed has a 61-63 bed on it, that is what I am trying to avoid (personal taste, not saying its not "correct". The 65 / 66 beds I am guessing from 2WD F250's or F100's match the lines on the cab very smoothly. So what I am trying to do is find out whether the short or long style side bed from 65 / 66 as mentioned will require moving the rear axle assembly forward or not, based on the 120" WB that I have. I can send you pics of several 64 F250's with the later beds as mentioned once I figure out how to post pics..!! Thanks for the links and advice.

I went a different direction......my '62 F100 4x4 has the same 120" wheelbase. I used a 65-66 style long bed, but instead of changing the WB, I shortened the box to fit it....

1957/60 F100/350 Styleside beds installed on the following 1961/66's. Known as the "wrong beds" because the bed lines don't match the cab lines of these trucks:

1961/65 F100/250 4WD / 1961/66 F350 (9' Express only) / 1962/63 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F250 4WD

1964/66 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD used different Styleside beds.

I cut 6" from the front edge....I really should have taken 8" though. An equal amount needs to be cut off the end of the frame as well.
I also used 1" blocks to line up the bed to cab,
This is the only pic I have...the primer shows where it was cut.
