1970 F100 Power Steering Conversion
Hello all, i currently am working on my 1970 f100 2wd. I have been thinking about switching my manual steering to power steering. Was just wondering if there are any good conversion kits out for this and if so do you have to change out your steering rod because of the lenght. any advice or previous experiences with this would be great. Thanks Jeff

Jeff, Welcome to FTE & the Bumpside Forum.
Many of us have done this, as it is pretty simple and straight forward. We also upgrade to power disc brakes at the same time, because there are several factors that inter twine.
Just find a 73-79 F100/150 with a 302 and the tranny that you have now or might want to upgrade to. Buy the donor, drop the I-beams, steering gear from the donor and slide them under your truck and bolt it up. Some replaceable parts will need to be renewed. Once the project is complete the hulk can be sold for scrap.
I have done this several time and recommend this method because it has all the needed parts. You will need to inspect before purchase but there are good donors out there.

Hello John and thanks for the invite. I have purchased disc brakes for the front along with the new master cylinder and booster, proportional valve and all new lines. I currently have a FE390 in the truck that i will be keeping. Is it still best to go out and find a 73-79 with power steering and pull it off or is there a complete kit that you can buy?

The firewall plate (like a sheath on the engine side) is different.
