I was going to replace my gearbox and need help determining the spline count on mine. I think it's 36 but I can't quite get an accurate count. It's a 2001 f250 7.3 2wd. I just wanted to see if you guys had any idea. Thanks for any help!

 

That's a tough one. I called Red Head when I ordered the gear for my Excursion and they knew which one it was. Of course if you're not ordering from them they probably wouldn't help you.

BTW it's a steering gear, not gearbox.

 

Get a dental pick or similar, then get under there and count hem.

There are some other tips in some of the older group buy threads, you might want to dig them up and look at them.
