Thanks, I brought my truck into ford this morning and well they said I need a new oil pump oil cooler lift pump and to reseal my fuel bowl, I told them to fix the oil leak where the dipstick comes to the pan, total estimated cost, $3600... ugh they want $2000 to fix valve cover leak, why???

Because it's the ford dealership...that's why. To be very blunt, unless you can do a lot to these trucks yourself or you have a pile of money to invest when (not if) they need something, these aren't great vehicles. They're more expensive to maintain and operate and they're nearing 20 years old. That means generally we have to pay to play. The benefit is that we have some of the best looking trucks ever built.

All joking aside, none of the issues you list are really big things to fix and I'm sure you can do it if you're moderately mechanically inclined. We can step you through it if you're willing to give it a go.

Normally i would have just gone ahead and done it by myself i mean I work on powersports for a living and have certifications in Honda Yamaha and Suzuki, but i don't have a place to sit down and do this stuff to my truck sadly or the time anymore seeing as im stuck in an apartment for only 5 more weeks then im moving back to a house... so i had to bite the bullet... but i will say i do appreciate all of your guys help so far! and with out a doubt i will come back and ask many questions and seek your guys help!

valve cover gaskets are easy. and if you got the vc's off anyway, you may as well save yourself some loot and do the pg'd while your in there

I was intimidated by some of this work too, and really didn't have a whole lot of knowledge, but with the help of thease guys here I just dug in on it and started doing it. I can say that I wouldn't have pry had the courage to do some of the projects that I've done without them.

Vc's the only pain is getting everything out of the way. And once you get them off everything is right there, Like Nate said, we can walk you through step by step. Just take it one step at a time.
