Salty Dog Bumpside
I finally got my new old pickup to my house this last weekend. I drove it about 300 miles from west Texas to Buda. Pickup runs like a champ. That 360 was humming going up and down the hills once I got to central TX! I got 14.5 drving about 60-65mph. She was parked under a carport for the 7 years collecting dust. It took a little work to get her back on the road. Nothing major. Just a tune up really.
Fuel stabilizer, radiator cap, upper hose, thermostat, engine coolant, battery, battery cables, plugs, wires, horn relay, oil and filter change, air filter, accelerator pump, timing adjustment, brake adjustment (bled em), and new tires.
Check it out

Nice truck! I love bumpsides! I have two that have been sitting at my shop for 2 years now. So far, I've switched to the crown vic front suspension, boxed & notched the frame, and installed a 9.75 with disc brakes from a Lincoln Navigator on one. The other one is a 4x4 that will be a strictly trail rig/rock crawler.

I'm still in deep cleaning mode on mine. I'm making some progress on the engine bay, and I picked up a clay bar kit yesterday. Hopefully I can bring back the shine from that original paint. It's gonna be a fun week.

I'm going to try and make the next gtg at Ted's. You have any other plans with your truck? I have a license to buy vehicles from insurance auctions and I'm still waiting to find the right donor powertrain for my truck. I'm shooting for something modern. The top of my list are the 5.0 coyote, 5.4 lightning, ford V10, or the viper/SRT-10 V10.

I haven't made up my mind what I want to do with the truck. I'm know I'm going to keep it a while, so I would like to make some upgrades as far as power steering, disc brakes, exhaust. But I'm worried about changing it too much. It's pretty cool because it's mostly stock.
A viper motor in the pickup has a nice ring to it. How's the VW/Porsche coming along?

Wishing I had more time for it. I got the wide body fenders welded on and haven't had the time to play with it since. I sell used Porsche parts on the side to pay for my toys and it's been taking up all my free time. I've gotten so busy that I've started to add on to my shop. I'm currently forming up a 30x36 slab so I can get a lift to make things easier. Porsche motors come out the bottom and it gets scary the things I'm doing to get the motors out of these cars. My inner redneck is coming out. I'm putting jacks on top of blocks to get the cars high enough to clear the motors.
