Hey Bumpsiders... I'm in a pickle on which seats to use for my "Lo-Buck Bumpside" project. The truck is a '70 2WD and my other rig is a '73 4x4.
Last year I picked up a pair '70 Mustang high back seats at the swap meet and more recently a pair of '68 Mustang low back buckets from the salvage yard.
I'm leaning towards the high backs for the 4x4 since I'll be bouncing around. However, I think the high backs will be more comfortable for long hauls in the 2WD.
What would you do? High backs or low backs for the '70 and why?
No joy... I'm short on height and the TKO-500's shifter is in the rear-most position so I can reach all the gears. The bench is gonna go away cuz it's in the way.
I like the looks of low backs better. You might lose some leg room with high backs due to seat hitting rear window. Might also make high backs less comfortable when you adjust for max leg room.

Low backs in 70 and high backs in 4x4.
2 X 70-360fe. Hitting the back window and being able to see them in said window was the 1st thing I thought of. However, bouncing around in a 4x4 is a good point. Been there, done that.
Low backs in the 70. High backs in the 4x4. (handy how that's what you already own!)
My vote is for the low backs in the 2wd they look better in them. The 4x4 should get the high backs. Some good thoughts were said above I agree with to.

Thanks fellas...... survey says low-backs in the 2WD Bump and high-backs in the 4WD Dent.
So it has been written and so shall it be done. The FTE Tribe has spoken.
FWIW, in 2007 I was sitting at a red light when some assbag kid, busy texting, plowed into the back of my truck at an estimated 45mph. The picture below is the weatherstrip lip around the back window. You can see where my head bent the metal as it went through the back glass.

I'm glad you are still with us Bobby. And your brains aren't scrambled.
Wow that's crazy hope you came out without any real injuries. Was the truck repairable? Any pics of the damage to the rear of it? Definitely makes you think about running higher seats.

It caused the bed to mash into the back of the cab, bent the frame and diamond shaped the bed (which is why there's a brown bed on my truck now.) I think having a tow hitch and a spare tire under the bed limited the damage to my truck. It cost $1000 to laser straighten the frame. I got $8800 to fix the truck.
I was behind the limit-line and came to out in the middle of the intersection. I was only out for a few seconds. I left in an RA with a c-collar on. I fractured my neck when I was 16, so this didn't help any. I had a concussion and suffered headaches for almost a year. (That's the original spare, by the way...)
When I turned my truck over it bent it the exact same way yours did by the gas cap. I spent a pretty penny getting frame straightened......wasn't laser technology but I can let go of the steering wheel now and it will track straight.....
