I always learn a lot from looking at the forum. Thanks to everyone who are so knowledgeable and willing to give your opinions. I admit I'm I'm sometimes lost with all the info however. And so I'm looking for advice. I have a 2003 7.3 with 154,000 miles. Its used as a daily driver and to pull our 12,500 fifth wheel on weekends and for a few weeks out of the year. I first replaced the intake and have a Riff Raff 6637 filter. I am running a programer on the third setting. Ordered guages, and now want to look at exhaust. Which exhaust system do you recommend? Do I need the "power elbow?" I will delete the catalytic converter, so what do you guys advise?
keep your intake spider assy stock. As for exhaust...mbrp, diamond eye...cant go wrong with the price. Now, if you live in the salts, maybe the stianless system would be better
And is there any power benefit to a dual system? And I know this is opposite what many want in an exhaust upgrade, but I prefer quieter as oppossed to louder.
I have the 5" diamond eye. A little loud for my taste but not too bad. There is some resonance inside the cab at about 70mph, but it goes away at 75. You really hear the turbo whining though.
The math works out where a 4" does the trick until you go crazy on HP, turbo, injectors, and intake. I know a member that has heavy towing (but not racing) mods and he regrets going to 5" - his plan is to go back to 4".
I have the 4'' MBRP 409 SS Turbo Back system. Great fit and has proved sufficient for towing/racing with a 450+rwhp engine. The sound is not overbearing, with the muffler in place, when towing. Some prefer to do the "muffler delete", but I'm getting a little too old for such things.

Agreed on the sound. Going to do this for the power and performance upgrade, but at 54 years old I don't need to turn heads going down the road for louder exhaust. Would prefer the best combination of performance and quiet.
