Remote fob

HI all. My remote fobs for my 2004 F250 are stuffed. One doesn't work and one will only lock. Anyone know where I can get fair priced replacements? I would also consider a remote start kit if anyone knows of one that suits.

Cheers Luke.

Gday Luke.
Looks like they around $20 USD.

I would introduce yourself to Clay at Riffraff Diesel and ask him to source you a set.

As Brian said, eBay. I can't remember the programming procedure for them (i.e. whether you can do it yourself, or if you need Ford to do it)

Any Ford 3 button remote like these will work:

Hey Kramer73. I got a new/old genuine off ebay. Cost $100 but after following your method works a treat!

Hi Guys

Well, my original Ford key fob has stopped working, so I am after a replacement.

I have tried the ebay fobs from America (I have 3 of them), but none seem to work as they don't link to my Australian F250 through the programming sequence.

Can anybody shed any light on why the ebay fobs won't link to an aussie truck.

I can post a fob to anyone who wants to try it with their F truck. Just pm me your address.

BigF350, I think I may be aiming this question at you.

But if anybody else has any ideas, please speak up.

Thanks

Hi there Adrian

Thanks for the link. But the problem is that this sequence does not work for my vehicle.
I have tried all the variations listed (5 rotations, 8 rotations, pressing the unlock button, etc), but nothing allows the vehicle to go into the keyfob programming mode.

Has anyone else tried the above procedure in Australia?
I would be very interested to hear if it works on any other Australian delivery vehicle.

Back to square one I think.

Can you think of any other reason why it doesn't work?

Thanks

It should work.

Try disconnecting your batteries for 10 mins.

Get in vehicle, ensure all doors are closed, lock all the doors first, then unlock all of them with the button on armrest, then 8 rotations within 10seconds, and you need to leave the key in the "on" position at the end of the 8 rotations.

Doors should lock then unlock to indicate its entered programming mode.

The only thing I can think of is different is that it may think the drivers door is the passenger door and vice-versa. The programming for the module is the same as US delivered trucks.

Well, I have tried the sequence over and over, but still no good. I have tried it using both the drivers and passenger door lock button but still nothing.

The only sequence that works with my truck is below, but the new Ford remotes from ebay don't register with my F250, and my old remote has stopped working.

1. Take off the grey plastic cover under the steering wheel to expose the steering shaft, foot pedals, fuse box, etc.
2. Find a small grey 2 pin DLC plug. Mine was next to my clutch pedal in the same group of wires with the OBD II plug. It has 2 wires, green with a purple trace and a black wire.

3. Use a hot wire to join them together
4. Turn your ignition on and wait approx 8 secs. The car horn will beep. You are now in the remote learning mode.
5. Press any button on the first remote. The horn will beep to indicate that it has been programmed.
6. Continue to press any button on remaining remotes to program them.
7. When finished, turn your ignition off and remove the jumper wire from the grey plug.

So I am not sure what to do next.
Adrian, have you heard of the sequence above.
Do you know if the frequency transmitted from the Aussie Ford remote keyfob is the same frequency as the American keyfob?
I am guessing that they are different due to the new keyfobs not registering with my vehicle.

Do the new remotes you purchased from eBay look physically the same as the old remote?

Also, meant to ask, what was wrong with your original Aussie remote?

The new ebay remotes are similar to my original Ford one, however mine only has two buttons where the ebay ones have a third button for the horn.
Slightly differnet size, but generally the same.
I will try and post a photo up soon.

My original remote went for a swim with one of my kids when they were holding my keys.
Message to self, only hold your own keys.

Thanks!

That helps a lot.
I am guessing the replacement key fobs you purchased looks like this:

3 button key fob

That there is the OEM key fob.
The dead key fob you posted is the Ford genuine aftermarket system, and was used in Fords during the early 90's, and they communicate with different FCC ID's.
You can see here.
OEM: OEM Ford 3 Button Remote - Vehicle Specific Remote Car Starter Kits
Ford Aftermarket: Ford 2-Button Replacement Case Only - Vehicle Specific Remote Car Starter Kits
Confusing, I know.

It also explains why you couldn't reprogram it using the "conventional" method.
Hopefully in your owners manual, it will say under the keyless entry section that your truck uses FCC ID GOH-M24 or GOH-MM6-101890

Why your truck has that key fob, I don't know. Its been that long since I have seen an Aussie F-250 remote that I didn't recall, but you need the same key fob for it to work, then do the following procedure:

Turn the ignition switch to the ON or ON/ACCY position and short the two terminals of the program connector (J2), a two-pin connector located below the driver's side of the instrument panel at the base of the steering column. All doors should lock and then unlock.

Press any button on a transmitter. All doors should lock and then unlock. If the door locks do not respond, press the button again (up to three times maximum with the same transmitter). If the door locks still fail to respond, go to PINPOINT TEST D.

Repeat Step 2 to program additional transmitters into the control module (up to four transmitters maximum).

Turn ignition off. All doors should lock and then unlock.

Make sure that the short has been removed from the Program Connector (J2).
