1996 f-350 dually

the 96 350 to me is the ultimate of trucks. i love that body style, the legendary 7.3 diesel, and all the bells and whistles. i have a slight opportunity to get one maybe (the dealer hasnt called me back) its a 96 f-350 dually with the centaurus conversion (my exact dream truck). i just need opinions on what ppl think i should do. yeah ive always wanted one but when it comes down to it, they are old, driven alot, and been thru alot im sure.

the one im looking at has 240k miles, averages out to about 13,000ish miles a year, so not to bad, ive seen way worse. the exterior is perfect, and i do mean perfect, there arent even any dents on the top of the tail gate like you see on most older trucks. the interior is immaculate and looks brand new. im sure the seats and door panels are all replaced because the material on them looks custom. the dealer selling it wants 5995 for it.

any opinions and thoughts would be helpful.

If the body is clean and rust-free that sound like a very fair price.
Miles per dollar these 7.3 are the most economical truck to run.

If it runs good and the body is that nice, that is pretty good deal for my area. I've seen them go for 7k around here with fair amount of rust and 9k for a clean one.

Sounds like a great deal, but then again I'm not the one paying for it.

i would never pay 6 grand for an 18 year old,2wd pickup with a quarter million miles on it.clean doesn't change what it is.

Agreed. If it was 4wd that would change my opinion though
But for the truck you are looking at i think 3k is a more reasonable price with the milage

As for the seats and door panels, that is part of the conversion pkg

If that's the criteria for the way you judge how "used" a truck is, then my truck is MINT at only 2600 miles a year....
That truck was bought to either show off, or work hard. I have a feeling that it towed a lot and then as usual, has sit and went unused for a long time.
You need to be concerned with the age of it and how it was used when in its prime. Not the average miles a year now that it's 18 years old.
Check it over, go get it looked at by your local mechanic, and make a decision.

i agree, a lot of people got those things to tow heavy. people kept those engines hot all the time, and that can lead to problems.

What kind of dumb comparison are you trying to make. Obviously a new truck is more expensive. But for what that that truck is, you can get more for your money. And with that many miles, I bought my 2000 psd for almost half that, and still have under 4500 into it after maintenance and hotrodding it.

I say either buy it because it's your dream truck, or keep looking because you think you can find a better deal.
