Is there any reason I can't...

Run a front sump oil pan on my 4x4? I hear someone with a 72 is running one but don't have visual proof that it will work and clear. Can anybody give me visual proof.

From what I understand, it'll work.....until you hit a bump in the road.

I had a front sump FE in my 78 f250. Dont have any pics of it but never had any issues besides dumping oil all over the front front diff whenever I pulled the drain plug to change the oil

I have a front sump on my 78 4x4 F250 with a swapped in 460. It has/had 6 leaf wore out HB spring packs on the front. And YES the pumpkin has contacted the oil pan, the PO installed blocks to fix that....I think you will be ok unless you are crazy when you are out wheeling.

Worried, but not enough to get a rear sump, put a little lift on it and drive it. I got some 4" Rough Country springs cheap and put them in place of the wore out HB w/blocks.

I do not think I will have any trouble and I am beating on it either.

Would a lift or leveling kit negate this risk?

That doesn't bother me. A rag is always on hand anyway.

Are we talking about your "1975 F100 Ranger XLT 4x4. 402FE, 4 speed w/ a knock"?

That is a 1/2 ton coil spring and radius arms suspension, no leafs involved in the front end.

And I have no idea on the oil pan question on a 1/2 ton, sorry.

Thats the one. Unfortunately when I gave the core for the motor I have now I gave them everything that came out of the truck. Including the oil pan, oil filter mount, etc.
