EGR Cooler hose question...

So with the temps hovering in the teens to single digits and wind chills below 0 F here for so long my EX has decided to let me know she isn't happy with the temps.

She has decided that it was ok to leak coolant where the EGR cooler hose attaches to the Oil Cooler outlet/inlet (not sure how to describe it) when the temps are in the teens. Plug the truck in and it doesn't leak when the temp is in the teens. Also once the truck is up to operating temperature I have zero leaks and the cooling system holds pressure when pressure tested.

I looked at the hose and there is a metal band around the hose but it doesn't look like a hose clamp. Is there an O-ring at that connection?

Until the weather gets warmer I was wondering if I can put a hose clamp on the hose to try and seal it for now. Once the weather gets warmer, I am going to do an EGR delete and a oil cooler.

Hose clamp wont help. There is metal on the inside and it twist to lock. They cost like 25 bucks. Might just want to replace it. I think there is a right up on it in the tech folders

Yeah, do a quick search, you will find the write up on it, probably has the part list also.

Need the hose and the 2 o-rings for the connector on the oil cooler side.

I'll see if I can find it.

Here is one, second page has the part numbers.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...placement.html

I have done this, it's not too difficult to do. Just need the right tools.

Here is one:

The other needs to get to the bolt just under the edge of the turbo.

See the one bolt head (torx 30 head) ?

That one is hard to get out without the right tool.

When the engine warms, the hose will expand and seal up. It will leak when cold, sorry.

Oh man those pictures are bringing up flashbacks. Everyone complains about the turbo bolts, but I think that one is the worst.

Definitely get the correct tool to get to that back torx bolt or be prepared to spend a lot of time struggling

Agree. And, place some rags under that area to keep small torxbits from falling down in there. I left 2 down there when I did mine. Got them back a couple years later when I replaced my turbo!
