Question bracing under hood

My 51 came bare bones plus a pile of parts. Now that I am working on the hood I was wondering a couple of things.

1 Is there a peice of sheet metal that fits under the hood? (I have a peice that looks like it should fit but it hits the rad when you close the hood)

2 If so can some one send me some picts on where it should go and what it looks like when it is instaled.

3 Is the rad susposed to be shimmed back to make the shroud thing work?

Just a couple of questions
thanks Angus

1. yes
2. my daughter borrowed my digital camera - soon as I get it I can get you a pict.
You're talking about the sorta 'U' shaped panel that comes down from the hood around the top of the radiator - I think. It is an air-dam to divert air thru the radiator.
The hood has two sets of mounting holes for both 6 cylinder (forward set) and V8's (rearmost set) although in Canada with only V8's I don't know if this is true.
3. You shouldn't have to shim the radiator back

They made a 6 cyl and an 8 cyl one and they went in differant holes in the hood. I am pretty sure and I purchased the wrong one for my truck. Since I am going with an griffin aluminum radiator and dual spall fans I will make up my own support. Ed ke6bnl

I stuck a couple of pix on my gallery showing the underhood brace. Hope they help - I'll leave them there for a while. Let me know if they help or if you need more info.
