My 95 f150 4.9 5spd 4x4 is getting roughly 7-11 mpg. Ya i know this is bad. And im sick of having to fill up my tank every week when i only drive 2-5 times a week short distances. I pulled codes and got 172 211 and 334. I have just replaced my o2 sensor and that made my cel light go away. Tires are all aired up good. I dont have the best driving habits but sure as hell arnt that bad getting me this low of mpg. Over the summer i put a egr valve and tube going to the manifold. Has new plugs wires distributor cap and rotor. Oil is 15-40 diesel oil and is very clean. All the trany fluid and diff fluid is new has k n intake. Pretty much that is everything ive done to get my mpg up. Nothings changed.
You only drive 2-5 times a week short distances. 15w40 oil in New York. I wouldn't expect very good gas mileage. The only way to get any comparable gas mileage figures would be Highway driving for a fair distance IMO.
Not sure I understand the point of putting more money into this truck, that's knocking and has a bad frame (going by what you've said about it). Maybe better off to save money for another vehicle, and be thankful this one still runs.
334 is the EVP above closed limit of .67 volts, which means either the EGR valve isn't closing properly, or the EGR is getting constant vacuum from the EVR.
211 is an erratic PIP signal, which usually results in misfiring or stalling.
Actually sometimes when you first start the truck up it will skip stutter and if you give it gas it will go away. It just started doing that about a month ago.
It sounds like you have much larger issues to contend with than fuel mileage, but as Bob pointed out, you should be looking toward the EGR system. Verify that the valve isn't receiving vacuum at idle.

How can in tell. This summer i replaced the valve this summer and the large steel tube. My vacuum lines are in good shape.
The more i drive the worse it gets. And i sure shouldnt be getting that low with the way i drive.
that is perfectly normal, my 4.9 gets the same gas mileage in the winter, let me guess? you are used to the 18 mpg in the summer arn't you, i started a thread a week or so ago and was told my mpgs were normal get used to it or get a car

The only thing is, he has two DTCs which are affecting the trim conditions. I am thinking he should

With the engine idling, remove the vacuum line from the EGR valve. Place your finger over the end of the vacuum line. If vacuum is present, it will be immediately obvious.
If vacuum is present, either the EGR solenoid has failed or the solenoid is receiving voltage when it should not be. You can easily determine which is the case with a meter.
