F250 super duty, intermittent engine stop

2003 F250 6.0.. 114,000 Has intermittent engine stop running, Always hot engine. Will always start again. Sometimes it just has a one second dead engine will driving and starts going again. Sometimes the throttle is not giving engine speed after this happens. No trouble codes.

ICP sensor and harness.

Have you pulled codes with a quality scanner that can read Pending or Soft codes? SG2 can barely pull hard codes, you need a good scanner or at least visit Auto Zone etc and have them pull codes.

code scanner

Used my Auto Xray 6000 scanner. Thinking the engine would have a code when the engine has complete dead spaces.

Use the scanner to pull the ICP KOEO volts.

Should be .16 - .28 volts

Yes if I had a good program to capture the soft codes. Can you recommend one? I just put in a crankshaft position sensor today cause its 10 years old. I put a new ICP sensor about 2 years ago. Thats a difficult to get out part.

Update. I removed and Air cleaned all the connections on the FICM and that did it. Must have been a power interrup on the unit.

thanks.

Actually, mine has been doing this lately, any suggestions? I have a stall on my engine under throttle, and the WIF light and glow plug light come on. but it corrects itself, seems that it is starting to happen a lot more. I emptied my HFCM and didnt see any water but a bunch of algae came out but still didnt correct the issue.

If the Connection didn't snap in the clip is broke , and will slip back out . use a zip tie to keep them in

Do you a Fuel additive like Diesel kleen, Howes ETC ? this will help to maintain water from fuel and Algae you don't want that in the system, I would do a fuel pressure test with the blue spring if you don't already have it, and Dushe the HFCM out good

Do you also get the gauge sweep and EVERY dash light comes on (bulb test)?

This sounds like a wire chaffing on the steering column or the ignition switch has a big a$$ set of keys hanging on it and the vehicle behaves the key is turned off for a brief moment (like on a bump)..

Yeah, I actually have been using XDP religiously at ever fill up for 4 years now, prior to that I used Diesel Kleen, I have the new updated thumb screw plug and drained the water and there was tons of algae in the housing, I am thinking I will be removing the HFCM manifold and cleaning it up real good. Once I initially cleaned it and sprayed some carb cleaner it, it still continued to happen, but as it started to get sluggish, I laid in on the gas pedal and stayed running like a raped ape. But it seems like happens mostly when I am going from idle speed to light accelerator speed, but If I lay into the gas pedal no issues. Kinda odd... But I am going to remove the manifold cover and install with a new one, just in case it happens to be the sensor or gummed up with algae. I will report back...
