I've used the factory molded ones on 3 trucks now. I always install paint protection film on the truck prior to installing the flaps to prevent paint damage.

Yes Duraflap is the way to go. I have used and ordered / returned several other types and nothing touches Duraflap. If you want the best coverage and heaviest duty there is no comparison. Also, the customer service is top notch and totally made in America.

I didn't even know that was an option, but they were installed by previous owner. I took them off pretty quick for the duraflaps and couldnt be happier other than the scratched up paint.

Where I live, in an area of loads of road salt used during the winter, rust is the biggest enemy to trucks. The trucks rust out quickest in areas of thin metal, where salt-laden water, muck, and debris can get trapped. Unfortunately, most mud flaps seem to trap this stuff right close to the thin lower fender area where the flaps mount, forming rust. I wanted the OEM ford flaps, because they look very nice (regardless of how well they deflect muck kicked up by the tires); but ultimately decided to not run flaps. There is a plastic strip of paint protection from the factory along the rear and low-most part of the bed body right behind the tires; I had my truck fluid-filmed (each year) and I think the combination will prevent rust. True, my truck will get dirty quicker.

Thanks everyone. I want to go with the molded look but wasn't sure they were long enough. Mud keeps going up in my power floor boards and also kicking up on my horse trailer (not to mention rocks/mud on my truck) so I need something that looks good and is functional. I also need to take care of the mud spot where my horse trailer parks so that will help too!
