56 side window ...conversion to one piece design.

I am toying with the idea of going with the one piece design window that eliminates the vent window. I just think it would give the truck a cleaner look. I ALSO would want this to be a POWER WINDOW setup.
I see kits and the prices are all over the place. I would ASSUME that the QUALITY follows suit.
Anybody here that has DONE this type of conversion please give me your opinion of the job and the parts you chose to use and any feedback you might have to help me make this decision.
As always,......Thanks for the input!

Don

Heya Don,
Try using the search function to see if you can find what info you're looking for.
If after that you're still in a quandary, try here again.
I too want to do the one piece windows in my 56s but am a long way off
A quick search I did showed most folks were going for the full kit from mid50 f100 parts

I just read an article in one of the mag's where they installed the power window/one piece door glass kit from Mid Fifties. It looks like a good kit and sure didn't look that hard to install either.

Thanks John, Just trying to see if there's a new twist on the install. Most articles make it look sooooo easy

I had no trouble with my install. I purchased my glass kit through Midfifty but bought my power window kit from EZwiring at the same time as my wiring kit which was much cheaper than Midfifty

Mine is an F1, got the kit from Classic Haulers with Nu Relic direct fit electric window for no vent window. They have a few problems, the glass channel was worthless (the Stainless Steel bead wouldn't slide so it kinked when bent) and the directions were for a '56. I called them and they said that they got a bad batch of glass channel but what they sent me was the good stuff and that the directions were the same. And that was after they first denied that I ordered the kit, which they sent me! I never had a problem with them before this, but wow. Must have somebody new... I have ordered some non beaded channel from Restoration Specialties and Supply, and hope to get it done soon. No stainless bead, but I don't care if it works well. The NuRelic power units are great, fit perfectly. I am also shaving the handles to make it a little harder to steal.

I keep going back and forth on the one piece design. I think I will really miss the vent windows so I will keep the vents. I use them every time I drive the truck.

I will definitly install power windows and plan to use the EZ wiring kit like 56panelford used.

I like the neat appearance of the one-piece window, but I like the fact that people see the truck and say "oh, look it has them old style vent windows...I remember them. They were great!"

The one piece does look great, that's why I keep going back and forth. In the end I think I would miss the vent windows, they really do work well.

I spoke to the owner of this beautiful truck for a few minutes. I don't remember exactly, but it looks as though he kept the vent windows, and he fitted the midfifty power window kit and was very happy with it. He said he fitted the electric window switch with it, though they say you can't do it. He reckoned the electic window mechanism installation was a piece of cake. It apparently bolts up to the original window winder holes.

Maybe it's just me but I don't understand what this means... please elaborate.
