Frame/parts truck pricing

Hey guys,
Long story short i need to find a titled frame and glove box door to go with it to get my 59 project going again. Curious what other folks have been finding parts trucks for so i can start looking around. Would be perfect to find a truck with a title that someone is using the cab off of for their project and i could get the frame. Just looking for any market data. Would be interested in possible leads via PM as well.
Thanks

Please tell us approximately where you live. I know of a titled '59 f100 that would be really cheap and it isn't too bad.

Even in 'ol over regulated New York State, you don't get titles for the old stuff. Changed sometime in the 70's I think. I didn't even have a registration for my '60, when I bought it but was able to get one by following the DMV's process.

I live in wyoming. I have looked into getting a title for non titled stuff and if the value is low (like 600 dollars) you have to fill out some paper work and put an add in the paper and get a vin inspection and if no one comes forward to claim it they will grant you a title after a couple of months. If the value is higher you have to take out a bond and a bunch of other stuff. Doesn't really help me any way since i don't have the original frame anymore.

Yeah, I had to take a pic of VIN and give it to DMV and have paper filled out by the last two owners. Fortunately the truck came from a guy that had bought it from his brother and he was available. Then they ran the number and issued me a new registration.

Hope you can find what you need out there.

If a title has ever been issued, at least in states that still title older stuff, it can be obtained via title search. I'm not sure if both the frame and glove box door VIN's have to be in place if, say, you move to a different state and need a VIN verification done.

So, to add to the confusion, New York State has both titles and registrations. Titles are for the newer vehicles, 1973 and beyond where registrations are required for all vehicles.

I found a '58 "parts truck" on Craigslist to use for my '57 for $600, complete with title and running 292. I plan on using the bed, dash and some other parts. I found it near Oklahoma City, OK. I've seen several '57-'60 trucks in the Okla/Kansas area for the $600 to $1200 price range. You might be surprise at what you can find on ebay, too.

Most definitely. I finally have the shop about sorted out so I can truly get started on building my '57. I plan to start a thread and post updates as it comes together. As for the dash, it looks like there are some spot welds under the the defrost trim/deflector that will need to be drilled out for the dash to come loose. This will be my first dash removal/install on these trucks. If anyone has any insight, please chime in!
