I'd say with all the miss match parts and the front end damage he's gonna be lucky to find a serious buy at $1000.00 and that's if he still and the original axles to go with it.
If it still had the original drive train, even not running, it would be worth a lot more that the way it sits.
I agree with the others. The market is very limited, as you've noted, for a converted and modified 4x4 project. The vast majority of truck guys looking for this vintage are restorers or rodders. It will take a lot of work and money to put it back to "normal."
As Bill noted, NADA numbers for old cars is a joke. There's not nearly enough dealer sales in all areas to come to any kind of reasonable value in their traditional sense like they would for a Taurus. Condition and location is way too big of a variable to quantify a guide price.
If the 4X4 conversion is done right and it really only needs what is listed,
and always a little more. I would pay no more than $1500 tops. That is if it has no real bad rust issues.
