I would think nothing of running EGT over 1250 for no more than a minute, as high as 1350 for seconds is ok, but, really, there is risk with that. I have towed stock, loaded and over loaded at 1250 all day with my truck, never a problem. You also need gauges to watch your boost to be sure that it's not to high. EGT is very important with any kind of tuning, FICM or tuners, as those programs all push the EGT past the limits of the stock tunes. I installed an ED's FICM with atlas 40 this fall, so towing season will be interesting, watching the EGT.
