Might be picking up a lifted 2000 V10.

Working out a trade for something I don't use (UTV) for something I can use.

It's got a 6 inch lift and 35's, which I very much immediately want to take off the truck swap in V/B codes and a new set of bilstein or rancho shocks, some stock wheels off of a newer excursion and some Load Range E tires.

I'll be using this to replace my 2006 Yukon XL for towing duty on a 30ft Travel trailer. The trade works out great for me because I can get a tow truck that I won't owe any money on and I can sell off the yukon and walk away without any car payments.

Truck has 100k miles and it looks extremely clean (Looks cleaner than my 06 Yukon...)

I'm assuming it's really going to suck towing anything if I don't get rid of the lift? Anything else I should do while removing the lift off the truck and getting it ready to pull about 8klbs of travel trailer?

Do the 2000 Excursions have sway bars? Should I go ahead and get a hellwig unit?

In the front. Why don't you get an unlifted one?

It's just sort of working out that I'm looking for an excursion, and I've also got a UTV for sale, the buyer that's interested in the UTV is trying to sell his excursion. I'm just doing the research before pulling the trigger on the deal. If I can sell the lift/tires/wheels I'll be that much further ahead money wise and still not be in any debt.

I can turn the wrenches myself to make it be whatever I need it to be.

I need a third row of seating, the yukon just doesn't have the towing capacity or brakes to handle my TT as safely as I'd like it to.

Sounds like a good trade to me. And yes the front and the new hell wig for the rear is really nice now that they re did it.

I dont think you would have a issue pulling 8000 pounds with it lifted. I do tjink the springset up you want is a better set or probably the best way to go though.

I pull with a lift and 35s...... Main thing is if you have it geared right to get the power out of it. I'm running 4.88s along with some other members here. And we pull 10,000 lbs+ with them. Front and rear sway bars, good shocks, and a proper setup hitch, you should be good to go.

^^This^^
My EX is lifted 4" (modded X/modded B codes F-350 blocks +) with 35"s and 4.88 gears, Rancho 9000XLs and a Hellwig rear sway bar. Our 40' TT has a GVW of 11,000lbs and pulls very well using a Hensley Arrow hitch.
Now all we need is some weather above freezing to get out and use it!

I had a lift on my X and it was an 8" f250 lift which would give my X 10" of lift.

I removed it for the v/b mod and all the other fun stuff to get it close to stock.

Here is a thread with another member asking the question. One of the posts is what I removed and put in.

I was able to sell all the lifted parts/rims and tires/ gears/ drive shafts to re-coup most of my costs.

I pulled a 30ft with 8" lift and now a 38' with the stock 3.73's and D rated 35's. How far are you towing? To me the hitch set up makes the biggest difference. I like the others have a rear helwig...STIFF.
