Hello everyone. you guys already helped me out by letting me read a lot of very useful information. I'm from Toronto Canada and I have a 1951 Canadian F1. Ill try and post some pictures but i'm not much of a computer guy so dont hate me if it doesnt work.
These should be when I when to go buy the truck
Nice! That truck is complete - best place to begin. And it has lots of character. Welcome and enjoy the days to come.
Lots of great information here - all you need to know as well as the moral support to get through the challenging aspects.
Welcome to FTE! Looks like you have a nice truck to start work on. I have just two questions tho. What's all the white stuff outside there and how come the floor of the cab isn't full of rust holes?I can see the road thru the holes in mine.Congrats on the good find!
Anyone else notice the 48-50 cluster in a 51 dash/truck? I'm wondering if the dash was cut to fit the 48-50 cluster? 51-52 dash has two holes for two separate clusters. One is the speedo and the other are the four gauges.

I saw that, figured it was maybe a Canada thing? GM stuff in Canada had differences from US sold cars, maybe the same thing with Ford in Canada.
Or maybe it really was just cut for the earlier cluster.
To the OP, looks like a great start to a build, I am in the middle of a 1951 F1 build myself.
Thanks everyone it does look like a lot of fun. The p/o made some alterations to the truck like putting an earlier model cluster, and installing a different seat. The truck looks solid and the motor spins, going to try starting it this weekend.
Welcome to the FTE site from a fellow Ontarian. Nice looking truck. Is it from out West? No way would it look that good after a few salty winters here in the rust belt. Lots of good people on here. Good luck starting the flatty. Let us know if it runs or not. Greg M-47

your absolutely right! the truck came from Saskatchewan in December and before that sat in a field for a very, very long time.
just gave the truck an oil change with non-detergent oil 30w and waiting for the plugs from my local parts store. will see how it goes in a few hours.
Congrats on the new toy....looks cool. I'd ask about the white stuff too except for the fact we've had more than we want here in Alabama. Welcome to the board!!
It was very common in the 50s for Canadian versions of Ford vehicles to use body parts from the previous year's US counterpart, Ford's way of extending the life of it's stamping dies. South American versions often used 3 year old US panels and parts in their "new" offerings.
Interesting that the truck has "Ford" badges on the front and sides of the hood rather than "Mercury".
