Well, they probably have different part numbers (suffix) but if you're asking if it'll fit, the answer is a resounding YES!

However,(don't ya just hate that word) it may not necessarily be calibrated for your particular engine. 302 distributors (other than the BOSS) were generally calibrated to run for fuel econonmy, etc. 289 Distributors were calibrated to RUN. LOL

Seriously, it'll fit, but you may not get what you're wanting out of it.

Then again, it may be exactly what your engine needs and wants. Try it and see. Unless of course your engine is subject to emission testing. Then all bets are off. You're better off going with a replacement for your year and model. Good luck!

thanks but the reason I was asking was because i put in a new distributor and i got a 302 distributor and when I bought the truck the guy said it was a 289 but anyway I tryed to put it in and it didn't set down right so my brother and I couldn't get it so we got it to run ny brother told me it would be ok to drive down to dealer to ask for help they told me that it was the wrong one not only did I round the shaft on the distributor but I also rounded the oil pump shaft too
