Does anybody know of anything else that could cause reverse to go out of an automatic tranny other than the tranny being shot? I dont know of anything but if somebody has any suggestions to keep me from replacing a tranny i would be very appreciative. Thank you in advance.

 

Nope, nothing external (except a maladjusted shift lever) can cause that problem.

Check your fluid level first, though.

 

I bought an 02 f150 yesterday. Reverse is completely out i thought maybe i could get lucky on the fix but it turns out its slipping between 1st and 2nd and i have to turn OD off to go above second. Luckily my old truck and this one both have transmission code U so they should swap i do believe even though my old truck is a 4.6 and the new one is 5.4. I read that it will bolt up on the 5.4 just need to use same torque converter and flex plate.
