auto tranny vs manual tranny sensors?
Hi guys,
I'm finishing up an engine swap on a 2002 ford ranger 3.0 manual. Everything has been pretty straightforward except for one thing- the used motor was for an automatic transmission and mine is a manual. The umbilical wiring (what you call it?) on the new engine has a few extra plugs for the automatic transmission that obviously don't fit. I hate to take off all the wiring mostly because its a pain- but my question is simply- will this affect anything? I would assume not because they look like standard sensors.
Either way i'm turning it over tonight and will find out i guess.
Does this makes sense?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
M

Rule #1 when doing an engine swap is never ever use any wiring that comes with the donor motor, Ford is notorious for changing wiring pinouts in harnesses from year to year so even if it plugs in there is no guarantee everything will work right.
You may bet lucky but I'd suggest you replace the wiring with the original.
The upper plenum has rubber O-rings on it where it meets the lower so no gaskets are needed and with that off you should be able to access all the wiring.
