64 f100 crown vic suspension questions

I am thinking about taking on the crown vic front suspension swap for my 64 in the coming months. I have done some research and educated myself about the basics. I am planning on getting the crown vic suspension in the next month, and taking some measurements and planning out the swap before I get started. I do have a few questions that I want to see what others have done with there swap.

For the steering, what is the best way to connect the f100 steering column to the crown vic steering box?

Is it possible to run the crown vic rack and pinion steering without a power steering pump (manual steering with a power steering rack). I am planning on mounting the PS pump and lines, but in the mean time can I drive the truck with manual steering?

What is everyone doing with the brakes, mainly the master cylinder? Do you upgrade to a bigger MC, power assist MC, or can you use the stock MC from the F100?

How many guys keep the 292 when swapping in the crown vic suspension? What all is needed to adapt the motor? I know motor mounts need to be built/modified?

Thanks.

I have a stupid question, why go threw all the trouble, it seems like it would be a lot easier to put your cab and bed on a 65'79 chassis and go twin I-beam? Is that not an option, or do you just want the project for fun?

I'm in the middle of this swap. My suggestion would be to buy a complete crown vic minus things you don't want to use, like the engine.

I am using the crown vic brakes and an explorer axle with disk brakes. I plan to use the crown vic master cylinder.

As far as the steering goes, you will need a different column I believe since the old one went to a steering box. The crown vic has a rack and pinion steering unit.

CPP sells a triangle to dlink adapter then you can cut off the flange where the rag joint goes and its spliced on that side I believe its a 36 3/4 inch spline from there just order a 3/4 d rod and tap the holes bam instant steering column have pics of it in my build. I also have the dimensions for the motor mounts and exactly how I built them this is all for a 302 and aod. Ive probably hit every road block imagined on this thing so if you have any direct questions feel free to ask. Oh on the steering column mines is a 79 column trust me though there is a lot of room to play with. The problem im having right now was getting the right pulleys and brackets to work with a power steering pump to drive the rack and pinion.

Thanks for the help with the questions. My big concern is around the steering set up. I would like to use the power steering, but imagine it will take some creativity to get a PS pump, pulley and belt on a 292. I am also concerned with the steering coulmn as I have a 3 on the tree column, and dont want to swap the column out.

Well those are some questions I cant help you with but if you decide to go the 302 route then let me know I got most of my pain in the I mean labor of love documented in pics and writing. Im sure someone some where sells power steering brackets for your motor. As for your three on the tree im pretty sure if you keep the geometry of your motor and transmission intact you should be good. Id measure your distances from side to side fire wall to motor take pictures and photo shop some arrows with distances on there so when it comes time to fab some mounts your headed in the right direction.

Im actually keeping this setup till I can move on to a 4.6 and I believe its a 6 speed auto I may be wrong on that though.
