power steering question

do the lines going to the steering box have o-rings on them?

I replaced my steering box with a reman box, and now the system will not hold fluid when the whels are being turned. it holds and does not leak at idle.

any ideas?

I'm pretty sure there are no O rings. If you're sure you have the fittings tight, I would remove the fittings an check for residue or part of a plug remaining underneath where they are supposed to seal. Also check the surface where they are supposed to seal for any burrs or pits. You may have gotten a bad reman box.

I kinda think they do have o-rings on them. Not real sure, though.

I assume the OP was asking about the steering "GEARBOX" not the pump.

Well, after a little more digging, found that they are o-ring on the pump end and inverted flare on the gearbox end. Hey OP, you didn't put thread tape on it, did you? That is a no-no for anything but pipe threads!

nope no tape on the threads,

Sorry about the delay in posting I had another issue with the truck that has kinda put the steering box on hold, blew a freeze plug in southern CA weather (wtf). truck will be back on the road when the steering issue is fixed but it wont be long until the motor gets rebuilt.

I went and got some degreaser and am gunna clean the area tonight and look for leaks in the system and hopefully find them.

Ill post back with results
