Just spoke with the owner. He deals in vintage camping trailers and was on one of his hunting missions when he found this truck sitting at a repair shop that an older gentleman owns. The PO bought it 20 or so years ago and put it aside to restore for himself, but is now getting up in age and sold the truck to the current owner. He has no prior history on the truck. The truck was found on the coastal area of Oregon. The current owner told me that there's a "collector" from Portland that is interested and had sent a guy to look at it yesterday. Only concern for the "collector" is locating the transmission. Lastly, the PO wasn't aware that the rear fenders are from a 1953+ truck.

Stu, or any one else knowledgeable in MH trucks, are the transmissions different for MH conversions than in regular trucks?

I told the current owner that I'm interested and have requested him to email me a few pictures of the truck and the MH specific items to make sure that the MH parts are correct. There is an OR title with the truck. The front wheels are loose, but the rears are locked up.

I'm sure the current owner bought the truck really cheap, like $500-1500 maybe.

I was going to say that the seat in the pictures looks like the seat that was in my truck!! That cotton batting is a favorite nesting place for all sorts of rodents!!

You're probably right, Dan. The pass at Mt. Shasta and into Oregon are pretty steep. If it all works out, Feb. 22 may be the best weekend. Can I hide the truck at your place??

Four speed spur would have been the transmission. Don't think they used the light 3 speed. AFAIK it's nothing special. If you get better pics have him do the rear lift blocks too. In the pics now I can see the case and cross member, but not the shifter. Also probably want a pic of the plate above windshield. Stu

This is exactly the reason why I don't like to scrap anything. I had two 52 F2s that I got from old_dan. Both had the 4 spd and one had the complete 215 motor. Dang it!!!

You'd still need the rear bearing retainer/mount for the half ton application. Stu

You might already have one if it's the same on the light duty 3 speed as on the 4 spur. It's the standard Ford rear tranny mount, not a MH piece. Stu

I think I kept one rear mount from the 4 spd out of the 52 F2 before I scrapped it, because I saw on here that some of them are prone to cracking/breaking.

Yeah, but iirc it's not the same piece 1/2 ton vs 3/4. And you're right, every one I've had on an F-3 MH had been fractured and welded. Stu

Glad to see someone interested in it. If it came from the coast, that would explain the rust. I am 3-4 hours from Grants Pass on a good day, which this isn't - sorry.

I-80 across central WY right now would be an adventure I wouldn't look forward to. Been there, done that, on late fall trips when weather moved in earlier than I expected. Stu

Ilya - Josh texted me and asked me to let you know he's half way to Oregon. Stu

Okay, it's a joke!
